For Better or Worse
One thing I’ve noticed about the human experience is that difficult times seem to get worse before they get better, no matter what the situation might be. This is a common theme that we’ve all observed at one point or another, and I wanted to explore why that is so often the case. A big part of life is the dance between our human self and our higher self on the other side. Our higher self is always with us on this journey, for better or for worse, and so much of this experience is about coming into union with ourselves in this way and realizing that we’re never truly alone, even when it feels like it. No matter what we do or how many mistakes we make, our higher self will never abandon us. If we refuse to interact with them, they’ll remain by our side as a silent observer, whispering to us whenever we have a moment of stillness. Occasionally, our higher self will put us through trials and situations that are testing our ability to heal and grow through our experiences.
In these times, the darkness grows until it threatens to overwhelm us, and it seems like everything that could possibly go wrong is happening before our eyes, and we aren’t able to create solutions fast enough to keep up with the barrage of misfortunes. When this happens to me, I find that I’m being gently guided away from victim mentality and encouraged to see the blessings that are occurring alongside the obstacles. When I remember that life is happening for me and not to me, I see how my experiences are challenging me to become stronger and unphased in the face of danger. These experiences are here to teach us that fear gets us nowhere and that surrender is really the only way out when your world is crumbling. If it feels like life is piling onto you and you’re near your breaking point, I would suggest that you ponder the circumstances, and in your quietude, remember that you’re not in this on your own.
Your higher self and your spirit team are with you, and they’re making sure you get through this. There’s also something on the other side of conquering this situation, and you deserve to persevere in order to witness it. Our tower moments in life get worse before they get better because there’s untapped potential for growth that must be accessed through overcoming difficulties. When we choose faith over fear in the moments when life is the darkest, we show the universe that we trust ourselves and the path ahead despite any external threats. This level of trust comes with an immeasurable amount of blessings and enjoyment, but we must make it through the tunnel and get to the other side to receive them. There is value in knowing how much you can withstand as a person, and how much resilience you are able to muster in any given situation.
Once you know what you can handle, and the universe continually tests the boundaries of your strength, you’ll be able to face down anything standing in your way. You’ll have so much self-belief that self-doubt can’t touch you anymore. It might look like everything is on fire and there’s no way out, but there is, and once you find it, you’ll feel true relief. The fire of your transformation will burn brightly and it will certainly hurt a bit, but the new you is worth it. There is no birth without pain, and there is no expansion without contraction. If you want the things in life that are exhilarating and joyful, you must also accept the opposite experiences, and you must handle those first. The pain allows us to crack open and grow, and that gives us a greater capacity to appreciate and feel ecstatic joy after the pain subsides. We must fully appreciate the lows of human existence to fully appreciate the highs, and that’s why it gets worse before it gets better.
We must have empty hands to receive our biggest blessings in life, and that’s why things are taken away. If we can loosen our grip on the things that are keeping us stuck in place, we can be moved on to calmer waters and experiences that make us feel grateful to be alive. That level of enjoyment is worth sticking it out through those dark times. Change is inevitable in life, and that’s one of the most poignant reminders when we’re on the bottom. This too shall pass, and once it does, you’ll be a new version of yourself. The goal is to make your former self proud of your ability to prioritize your growth even when things are scary. Make decisions that will lead you where you want to go, and trust that you’ll make it there come hell or high water. It always works out somehow in the end, and we’re better for it when that time arrives.
