Overcoming Your Fear
We all handle our fear differently, but this is a universal struggle that we all must face in this human experience. Fear comes up for us when we’re being challenged to choose between comfort and progress along our path. Sometimes the fear makes sense because we’re encountering something that poses a risk to our physical body, or even our survival. In those situations, our fear is there to remind us that we must be cautious in our dance with the uncertainty of life. Most often when we encounter fear in our daily lives, we’re not actually experiencing danger or a physical threat to our safety. Our nervous systems only know about our past, and they aren’t too keen on new and exciting experiences. In these instances, fear can paralyze us when movement is in our best interest.
Facing the fear in those moments makes the difference between stagnation and stepping into a new reality. If you’ve been feeling stuck and you’re looking for a way to overcome the sticky feeling that tells you it’s safest to remain in your comfort zone, making one small move might be the catalyst you need to reclaim your power and find the motivation to move forward. It might seem like you need more courage in those moments, and perhaps that’s a part of the equation, but what you really need is a new level of faith and self-belief so that you can trust in your own abilities and inner strength. There is an element of surrender required in these fearful moments, but we also must find the will to take inspired action even when it’s terrifying.
If you know that this action could lead to massive change in your life, that realization might be creating resistance under the surface, causing you to freeze before you act. This resistance forms as a result of not knowing the trajectory this decision might take in your life, and once you are aware of that, you can find ways to reassure yourself that you’re ready to move forward no matter where the path might lead. Trusting your intuition in this moment is the antidote to the fear. If you truly trust your inner guidance system, you know that it would never lead you in the direction of your undoing. When you hear the call of your heart and you choose to follow it, that means you’re living in accordance with your truest path. Taking action in this direction will always be supported by your spirit team and the divine, so there’s really no need to fear the results of your decisions.
Once you’ve decided that you want to move in a certain direction in life, your path will keep calling you until you answer, which can create energetic pressure that adds stress to your emotional landscape. This pressure will begin to chip away at your fears and your nerves until you take action. This pressure is oftentimes what causes us to finally overcome our fear before it’s too late to make the move. If we allow the situation to progress to that point, it becomes very uncomfortable emotionally. This unsettling feeling can be avoided by taking action before the situation becomes unnerving. If you can feel your fear while doing the scary thing anyway, you can avoid this bottleneck of energy that will ultimately force your hand.
Facing your fear isn’t about becoming fearless. We can never truly eliminate that sensation in human form. It’s about feeling your fear without pushing it away or resisting the changes necessary to facilitate movement along your path. Surrendering to the flow of life means trusting that unseen hands are guiding and protecting you, and also believing in the deep inner knowing in your being. Your heart and soul will never lead you astray, and once you trust that wholeheartedly, you’ll be able to move in the direction of your highest good while the fear is there trying to stop you. If your fear is holding you in place in this moment when your heart is telling you to take a step forward, I want you to know that you’re stronger than the fear wants you to believe. Taking that step might change everything, and once you’re sick of staying the same, you’ll find a way to take that step no matter where it might lead.
