The Gift of Prophecy
I’ve experienced prophetic dreams my entire life, but I was recently reminded of a situation where the prophecy came to pass almost immediately in my physical reality for a dire purpose. In June of 2014, I had a dream that I was driving though the forest and a tiny orange kitten ran out in front of my car from the passenger side, and I saw it run all the way across the road into the forest to my left. I didn’t think much of this dream, and at the moment I didn’t realize that it was a moment of divine foreshadowing. Looking back, I find this fascinating because I’ve had a series of fated events the past three years during the month of June. That year, on June 18th, I saw an orange cat run out in front of my car from right to left, from the forest and back into it again, exactly as it occurred in my dream except this was a full grown cat rather than a tiny kitten.
The dream that I had immediately flashed through my mind, and I decided to pull over and try to catch this cat. I was on my way to a meeting at my university, so I text someone in the group to let them know I wouldn’t be able to make it. I spent 10-15 minutes trying to catch the cat, who was terrified of the cars going by. He wanted to trust me, and I could see that in his bright green eyes, but he got spooked every time I tried to grab him and get him in the car. At one point, I had him in the passenger seat and he jumped out before I could close the door. One of my classmates was driving by and saw me trying to catch this cat, so he pulled over to help me.
I was known for being a crazy cat lady at the time, so he assumed this cat was mine. When he realized it wasn’t he still agreed to help me get him in the car, and the two of us were able to make that happen. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with him, but I knew I had a mission to rescue him one way or another. I was aware that my prophetic dreams always happened for an important purpose, and I trusted the sign above logic and reason. I took him home and put him in a bathroom to keep him away from my other cats, and I fed him right away because he looked so thin and emaciated. He had a large frame, and he had clearly been starving for a while. When I took him to the vet, we discovered that he had been neutered and front declawed, and he had no contagious illnesses that would hurt my cats.
The vet confirmed that he was near starving, and explained that he might take some time to reacclimate to indoor living. His age was estimated to be six or seven years old, and he relaxed into our family of cats almost right away. I spent weeks trying to find his owners since it was obvious that he was a house cat, but to no avail. We fostered him for a couple of months, and decided to find him a forever home since we couldn’t find his family. He was much older than my cats and clearly longed for a quieter home, and we eventually found him a forever family with one other cat. That family chose to keep the sweet name I gave him, which was Sunny because of his light ginger complexion and his sweet loving soul. I knew he wasn’t meant to be my forever kitty, but I also knew that I was meant to save him.
My prophetic dream gave me the confidence to pull over on the side of the road to catch him that day. Despite the dangers and difficulties along the way, I knew I was being instructed save him. I spent time and money making sure he was safe and cared for, which wasn’t my responsibility, but I knew it was purposeful. I was being called to inconvenience myself in the service of someone else, and my spirit wouldn’t allow me to turn away. Sometimes we’re called to solve problems we didn’t create in order to defend and protect the helpless from the cruelty of this world. Sometimes our higher guidance is calling us to be a force of good without receiving repayment. Our intuitive gifts and abilities facilitate this process by allowing us to receive the message and higher guidance.
When you receive a sign like this, it’s almost impossible to ignore. Your inner self is set ablaze in that moment when it comes to pass, and your body just steps into action, almost without thinking. When your inner knowing fully comes online, it radiates through your entire system, and you just know what you must do next. I had many glimpses of this energetic shift throughout my early life, but it took me a long time to choose to step fully into it and never look back. If you find yourself receiving these glimpses, realize that they are opportunities for you to step onto your path, or to dive deeper into it. Your spirit is calling you up to serve humanity and the world on a greater scale. If you’re willing, you’ll be prepared for the journey every step of the way.
