Speaking Your Truth
There are a lot of positive and negative connotations surrounding the truth and expressing it. The truth can hurt, and it can set you free. Truth can be painful and ugly at times, and it can be weaponized and aimed at those closest to us when that pain bubbles over into our communication. In my belief, speaking your authentic truth is a necessary part of your soul’s journey; however, it can be delivered through loving kindness rather than with harshness. It is possible to cultivate finesse in truth telling, and if you are able to address your pain without pointing it at others, I think you’ll find there’s a lot of peacefulness in allowing your truth to gently come to the surface in your relationships. We can be direct and honest in our communication while still tapping into the endless well of love and acceptance that exists in the universe. The truth might be painful, but it can be expressed in a balanced and neutral way.
If we can address our own pain and hurt feelings surrounding a situation before expressing our truth, we can stand in our power and face the consequences of this without fear. You might still receive a negative reaction after you tell someone what’s on your mind, but if you’re able to do it without lashing out emotionally, you can feel at peace with the outcome regardless of what it looks like. If you tell someone the truth and they decide to exit your life, you can rest assured that this shift was necessary to step into your authentic expression. Sometimes our truth stands between us and others who are not meant to be in the front row of our lives. If someone is meant for you, they’ll be able to receive your truth and reciprocate that honesty from their perspective in a constructive way. If they’re not meant for you, there’s nothing you can do to keep them in your life long-term.
Life always seems to find a way to bring us to our destination regardless of our actions or inactions. However, if you can rise to the occasion when life offers you a challenge, you’ll find that you reach your destination with less pain and turmoil along the way. Speaking your truth when you’re afraid it will not be received well is terrifying because this truth will bring about some kind of change regardless of the outcome. Change is scary for our nervous systems, and fear is a natural response to leaving your comfort zone even if it’s in your best interest to move on. It’s important to find your center when you’re making big moves in your life so that you can be sure of your truth wholeheartedly before sharing it with the rest of the world. When it’s time to move forward in your life, truth is loud and undeniable. No matter how hard you might try to convince yourself otherwise to hold onto your comfort, the truth will resound within you louder and louder until you face it and find a way to speak it into the world.
Truth resonates in our bodies when it is spoken, and many of us can physically feel our body responding to that truth in our daily lives. It can feel scary to speak a big truth because it can never be unspoken. It will always be there regardless of what happens next. Whether someone chooses to accept your truth or not, they will always know how you really feel about something after you tell them. There is no return into blissful ignorance once the truth has had an audience. Speak your truth anyway. This pocket of safety that you’re existing in before the truth comes out is not serving you or anyone else. Our comfort zones are rife with stagnation and disease like water that has become trapped in stillness. Breaking out of them might be scary, but staying in them means never moving forward toward your destiny. If the truth ruins something, it was meant to fall, and there is certainly something better out there meant for you. Live in your truth every day, and it will become easier to speak it with every breath.
