The Path of Self-Love
Self-love is an integral part of the healing journey because in order to heal our wounds, we must love ourselves enough to feel the pain associated with our wounding. It takes an equal or greater amount of love in order to sit with this pain long enough to feel it, hold it, and let it go. We can avoid pain for a long time, but it will remain with us buried deeply in our subconscious mind and the tissues of our body until we have the strength to face it. This is why unhealed emotional wounds create the opportunity for disease to take hold in our body. We were never meant to carry this pain with us endlessly, we were meant to feel our emotions in the moment and deal with them. Avoidance of momentary pain and suffering will ultimately lead to a compounding problem that requires extra energy that we must pay in order to overcome it.
Your body will hold this pain as long as necessary, but it will cost you over time energetically. This pain will feed on your energy and your body itself until you address it and let it go. There are many distractions and temptations that will pull you away from your healing work, and falling into these traps causes delays and frustrations along your path. If you focus on what needs to be dealt with in the moment it arrives, you’re freeing your future self from having to solve the problems that will grow as a result in the meantime. As your negative emotions fester and grow in your energetic body, they will also multiply and attract similar energy into your field. If you think of these negative emotions as an infestation of energy that doesn’t belong in your energetic body, you can understand why it’s important to release it as soon as possible. This infestation can have a parasitic affect on your energy supply, which makes your life more difficult on a daily basis.
Setting yourself free from any old emotions that are trapped in your body allows you to feel lighter and have more energy to put toward your dreams and goals. Self-love is essential for this process because we must tap into this well of unconditional love for ourselves as we dive into the trapped pain simultaneously. This unconditional love offers a pocket of protection from the effects of this pain and suffering, and it allows you to feel the pain without becoming overwhelmed by it. This also prevents you from getting lost in the dark caverns of your wounding while you’re addressing this pain. You must travel into the void space within to feel this pain and let it go, and you must also avoid becoming trapped there. You’re meant to feel your pain in a way that sets you free from it.
It’s important to note that you will encounter and face many fears along this journey of loving yourself through the painful experiences. You must come to understand your own strength and resilience in order to walk this path. Developing self-trust in tandem with your self-love is essential because you will be called to rely on your fortitude as you dive deeply into your sorrow. You have to believe that it’s possible for you to feel the pain and recover from it, and self-love is the blanket you’ll wrap yourself in while you’re sitting at rock bottom. Love and connection are the antidotes to fear and pain, and you must arm yourself with them as you stand up to your inner demons. Once you realize that they are the parts of yourself that were filled with fear and hurt, you’ll be strong enough to welcome them back into your heart where they truly belong.
If you’re feeling called to this path, know that you’re not alone and that you’re strong enough to face the trials ahead of you. You’ve already faced many difficulties along your path, and you’ve been gathering strength and resiliency to carry you through the dark parts of your journey. You certainly don’t have to face all of this alone, and sometimes the love and connection that gets you through comes from other people in your life. Lean on the ones you know you can trust when you need a boost, and know that there’s no shame in seeking assistance from a therapist or healer when you’re in need of assistance and guidance. You deserve a loving community of support, and you’re the only one who can choose to give that to yourself by surrounding yourself with the right people. As your self-love grows, you will grow with it naturally, and you’ll be better suited to move through life with a greater sense of ease and flow.
